Civil Engineer (Junior to Intermediate Cost Sharing)

What is Cost Sharing?

Cost sharing is the process of coordinating and equitably allocating shared land and servicing costs among landowners who benefit from a common development area. It ensures that the costs of essential community infrastructure—such as parks, schools, and municipal servicing—along with required land dedications, are distributed fairly among all benefiting parties, enabling sustainable and well-planned community growth.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to both Senior & Intermediate Project Managers, you will be a Project Engineer who is highly motivated and eager to learn the discipline of administering cost sharing for large development and infrastructure projects.

Cost Sharing is a great opportunity to leverage existing engineering & land development skills and be involved with the legal & business aspects of the industry while maintaining a strong technical base. We pride ourselves in being able to undertake detailed analysis of subdivision systems but with a constant eye on the big picture and how everything fits together.

The Junior Intermediate Cost Sharing Engineer is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:

• Work on the preparation of cost sharing schedules, cost sharing figures and engineers certification/release letters;
• Assist with general civil engineering studies;
• Liaise with clients and developer groups; and
• Complete related tasks under the guidance of a more senior staff member.

What we’re looking for from you

• Civil Engineering or Civil Technology Degree;
• High attention to detail and enjoy problem-solving & working with detailed Excel models;
• A working knowledge of AutoCAD;
• 1- 2 years of experience in land development approvals and/or municipal review processes;
• Previous experience in administration of Cost Sharing schedules and/or knowledge of residential subdivisions; master & functional servicing studies; stormwater management plans, site grading and servicing plans is an asset;
• Ability to work in a team environment; and
• Must be self-motivated possessing strong interpersonal & communication skills; and have the ability to work independently & manage multiple projects / clients
