Dealer Compliance Audit Specialist (12-Month Contract | Extension Possible)

A leading automotive organization is seeking a Dealer Compliance Audit Specialist for an initial one-year contract, with the potential for a one-year extension.

As a key member of the Compliance team, you will support dealer compliance and investigations by monitoring high-risk transactions, conducting compliance audits, investigating potential policy violations, assessing dealer activities, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to protect the integrity of the dealer network while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Run daily anomaly monitoring across sales/RDR data to flag potential resellers, straw buyers, demo/courtesy RDR anomalies, cash only clusters, out of province patterns, duplicate contact details, and other red flags.
• Track VIN movement and export signals using internal systems and open-source checks; maintain a watchlist for known resellers/intermediaries.
• Liaise with CBSA and other authorities on export inquiries when required (through Legal/Compliance as appropriate).
• Request and review deal files (accuracy, completeness, KYC evidence, driver’s licences, bank drafts/receipts, signatures, non-export agreements).
• Correlate internal records (e.g., AQUA/CDM or equivalent) and third-party sources (e.g., vehicle history, OSINT) to quantify the scope (VINs, related individuals/entities).
• Assess violations against the Export & Reseller Policy and KYC guidance; calculate penalties/chargebacks, recommend program eligibility impacts (e.g., removal from incentive programs), and define corrective actions.
• Draft noncompliance letters and dealer communications with Legal; ensure delivery via approved channels and file everything in BPIM (or the designated repository).
• Monitor remediation to closure, validating completion and documenting outcomes.
• Provide concise briefings to leadership on trends, hotspots, and case status.
• Maintain a dashboard for case pipeline, hotspots, penalties, recovered funds, and cycle times.
• Initiate the design of simple AI/automation rules (e.g., watchlists, pattern alerts) in collaboration with IT/Data teams.
• Author monthly and quarterly reports (financial impact, trends, repeat offenders, identity theft indicators, sanctions exposure).

Skills, requirements & traits

• Post-secondary diploma/degree in Business Management, Finance functions
• 4–7 years in compliance, audit, investigations, fraud, AML/KYC, or export controls—ideally within automotive, financial services, or regulated distribution.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing deal files/transaction documentation and applying policy with defensible documentation.
• Strong analytical skills: pattern detection, sampling, evidence synthesis; proficiency with Excel/Sheets and analytics tools (dashboards/BI).
• Excellent written communication (clear, concise briefs; audit style findings; formal letters).
• Discretion with sensitive information; proven ability to operate in ambiguous, cross functional environments.
