Power BI Developer - SQL

Data Visualisation Developer | Up to £40,000 | Hybrid | Manchester A leading financial services organisation is looking for a Power BI Developer to design and develop compelling dashboards that turn complex data into clear, actionable insights. This is a well-established financial services organisation with a strong commitment to data-driven decision-making.

The Data and Analytics team plays a central role in providing insights that drive business strategy and operational improvements. The organisation values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. As a Data Visualisation Developer, you will be responsible for end-to-end design and development of Power BI dashboards.

This role requires technical Power BI expertise, data modeling skills, and design sensibility. Design and develop Power BI dashboards from concept through to deployment and maintenance. Build robust data models using star schema and dimensional modeling techniques. Create Power Query transformations to extract, clean, and shape data from multiple sources.

Ensure dashboards are visually engaging, intuitive, and follow UX best practices. Optimize dashboard performance for fast load times and smooth user experience. Maintain and enhance existing Power BI solutions based on feedback. Document dashboards and data models. Provide training and support to stakeholders. 2-3 years experience developing Power BI dashboards professionally.

Strong Power BI skills including report design, data modeling, and workspace management. DAX proficiency including calculated columns, measures, time intelligence, and advanced functions. Power Query proficiency including M language, data transformations, and query optimization. SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and understanding database structures.

Data modeling experience including star schema, dimensional modeling, and normalization. Understanding of UX and design principles for user-friendly dashboards. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality visualizations. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects. Financial services, insurance, or regulated industry experience.

Data visualization best practices and storytelling with data. Exposure to other BI tools such as Tableau or Looker. Knowledge of data governance and quality principles. Agile or fast-paced environment experience. Hybrid working with 2 days per week in Manchester office. End-to-end ownership of dashboard projects. Clear progression opportunities.
