This role is subject to -

Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

2 References - where possible we require 3 years' history.

Qualification - A BSc/MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering or an equivalent qualification underpinned with adequate experience.

Registration - Registered chartered member of a professional body such as MICE or MIStructE.

The Capital Programmes Division is looking for a suitably qualified structural engineer with proven construction experience to join a dynamic service that delivers a complex programme of projects on behalf of Manchester City Council.

The Capital Programme Division is responsible for delivering approximately £200m pa of small/medium and large capital construction programmes across the city of Manchester and continuously strives to improve the effectiveness of its design, project management and programme delivery procedures.

About the Candidate

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will work on across a diverse portfolio of works.

The successful candidate will have a degree in Structural or Civil Engineering at BSc/MSc level and be registered chartered member of a professional engineering body such as MIStructE or MICE. You must be competent in general structural engineering design, project management, inspecting and reporting on defects on all types of structures, possess a good working knowledge of building and planning legislation, Health, and Safety Regulations, CDM Regulations and experience with contracts such as: PSPC, JCT and NEC 3/4 (ECC and/or TSC). Professionally you must be able to design, manage, and deliver projects from commencement to completion within approved budgets, timescale, and quality.

Proficiency with using AutoCAD is required, plus a working knowledge of design packages such as: Solidworks /ANSYS/Matlab/TEDDS.
