A new opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planner to join a national property consultancy bringing together planning, development, valuation and agency expertise in Manchester.

Planners work closely with colleagues across the property disciplines, giving clients joined-up advice from acquisition through to delivery.

The opportunity

The office has a healthy pipeline involving science and technology projects, rural estates, estate and land strategy and town-centre regeneration. The emphasis is on thoughtful advice and well-managed projects rather than simply processing volume.

What you will be doing

You will manage a varied portfolio of planning instructions from early appraisal through to determination. This will include preparing submissions, coordinating technical inputs, advising clients and negotiating with planning officers.

There will be scope to mentor junior colleagues and to play a more visible role in client relationships, without losing the hands-on project work that makes the position interesting.

• Mentoring junior planners and reviewing technical work
• Advising clients on strategy, risk, programme and prospects of success
• Contributing to proposals, networking and wider business development
• Managing project fees, deadlines and client expectations
• Coordinating architects, transport, heritage, landscape and environmental specialists

Your background

You should have solid development-management experience and be able to run straightforward applications with limited supervision. MRTPI status is preferred, although candidates approaching chartership will also be considered. Clear writing and confident client communication are essential.
