ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Senior Scientific Writer with a passion for life sciences and a talent for transforming complex scientific concepts into engaging, high-quality content. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team working on projects at the cutting edge of science and pharma.

Principle tasks

• Researching and learning about clients’ and their competitors’ technologies, products and services
• Working with agency colleagues to brainstorm and plan campaign ideas
• Researching, developing and editing a range of deliverables including whitepapers, web content, infographics, podcasts and articles
• Overseeing content projects as required, collaborating with other teams to ensure they are delivered to the highest standard, on schedule and within budget
• Mentoring and leading junior writing teams where required
• Leading PR projects - building strong media relationships, distributing press releases and reporting results

Requirements

• A degree in a biology-related subject
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Excellent communication skills, written English and attention to detail
• Passion for communicating scientific discoveries and technologies to diverse audiences
• Comfortable researching and understanding academic science papers
• Experience using social media and other web-based communications channels
• Ability to learn about diverse scientific areas covering a broad spectrum of the life sciences, potentially extending beyond your existing specialist knowledge
• Willingness to help on other tasks as required and comfortable working on several projects simultaneously
• Great initiative, self-motivation and organisational skills
• A degree or experience in pharmacology, medical communications or life sciences
• Experience in marketing, branding or PR
• Experience in providing content and strategic advice in a client-facing role
• Established media relationships with relevant publications

Training will be provided on the job and, depending on your competencies, there may be further scope to develop skills in client management, marketing strategy and/or campaign management.

• Competitive salary - £28,000 - £38,000/yr (dependent on experience)
