Glow Volunteer Marketing Executive (Fall 2026)

Please note we cannot accommodate students on a co-op term who will be working full-time hours. This is due to the Marketing Director needing to be available regularly during the day to promote and assist with events and programming.

Service Description

Glow is the oldest continually-running university-based 2SLGBTQIA+ group in Canada. Run entirely by dedicated student volunteers, Glow promotes a healthy attitude towards all sexual/romantic orientations and gender identities on the UWaterloo campus by providing a wide variety of peer support, social events, advocacy work, and resources.

Role Description

The Marketing & Media Director are responsible for promoting the service on the UW campus by ensuring our presence is felt online and in-person. They are responsible for the management and creation of the service’s social media platforms, using the toolkit developed by the WUSA Marketing and Communication department. Some of the things they may do on a day-to-day basis includes:

• Creating and planning engaging graphics for our social media platforms.
• Work closely with the Glow Coordinators to promote events and create posts that align with their service mandate.
• Designing the layout of posts, creating Instagram reels and other interactive content, with the approval of the WUSA Marketing Specialist
• Creating content calendars for the term in collaboration with the service coordinators
• Seek additional opportunities to promote content for the service through partnerships with clubs, services, and other stakeholders
• Collecting data on user engagement with the social media platforms and sharing it with the Coordinators.
• Attending events and supporting with boothing to promote the service
• Participating in holding office hours and attending Glow volunteer meetings

Requirements and assets for the role

The ideal candidate for this posting will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong time management and organizational skills.

This position requires between 3-5 hours per week on average.

Experience in social media and graphics is required.

Comfortable using Canva and a video editing platform like Instagram Editor or CapCut.

Be comfortable appearing in social media content for the service.

Training Requirements

Chosen applicant will be connected with the WUSA Marketing Specialist to receive training on WUSA policies.
