About the Role

You’ll work with elementary-aged learners within our multi-age learning community, creating responsive learning experiences that build strong academic foundations while adapting instruction to how each student learns best.

Whether through explicit small group instruction, collaborative projects, peer teaching, independent practice, or hands-on exploration, you know how to create the conditions where every child can thrive.

You’ll have the opportunity to help shape curriculum, learning environments, and school initiatives alongside a collaborative team. Responsibilities

• Design engaging, inquiry driven learning experiences for elementary-aged students.
• Support literacy, numeracy, science, social studies, and interdisciplinary projects through authentic learning experiences.
• Observe, document, and respond to children's thinking to inform future planning.
• Use ongoing assessment to identify opportunities for greater challenge, monitor student growth, and address foundational gaps.
• Differentiate instruction using a variety of evidence-based teaching approaches.
• Foster a classroom culture built on belonging, responsibility, confidence, and independence.
• Support students in becoming reflective, capable, and self-directed learners.
• Extend learning outdoors through regular nature exploration and community experiences.
• Build strong relationships with families through regular communication and documentation of student learning.
• Participate in ongoing professional learning, educational research, mentoring, and collaborative planning.
• Collaborate with colleagues to co-design curriculum, refine instructional practices, and continually strengthen our programs and school culture.

Required

• Minimum 3 years experience teaching elementary-aged children in a classroom or educational setting.
• Strong understanding of early numeracy development and mathematical reasoning.
• Demonstrated experience delivering structured literacy instruction using an evidence-based approach (UFLI, Sounds-Write, Orton-Gillingham, Secret Stories, Heggerty, Wilson, etc.).
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment where educators help shape school-wide decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to reflect on your practice, adapt instruction, and continually improve student outcomes.

Assets

• Ontario College of Teachers certification
• A degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Studies, or a related field
• Experience with Reggio Emilia, inquiry learning, Montessori, Forest School, project based learning, or similar child-centred approaches.
• Experience using assessment data to identify learning gaps and plan targeted intervention.
• Experience designing or implementing individualized literacy or numeracy supports.
