Lead Development Planner in Waterloo Region

Contribute to meaningful urban change as a Lead Development Planner with the Region of Waterloo. This full-time position is focused on preparing and advancing strategic development plans.

In the Build Waterloo Region team, your responsibilities will include conducting research, preparing development plans, and overseeing land acquisition strategies that promote affordable and sustainable growth. You will also liaise with Council and other stakeholders to present reports that align with community goals.

This collaborative role requires strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of planning regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and lead comprehensive development project proposals
• Review and submit planning applications per municipal policy
• Assess sites for redevelopment potential and strategic alignment
• Facilitate public engagement and provide information sessions
• Support property appraisals and provide analytical insights

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Planning or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in municipal planning
• Eligible for membership in planning associations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in planning-related software tools
