Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, Cloud AAI, Agent Engineering, Retail

Google Cloud's Applied AI (AAI) Solutions Consulting team is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to partner directly with strategic enterprise customers to design, co-develop, debug, and deploy AI agents and GenAI-native solutions.

The Cloud AAI team powers business growth with Gemini Enterprise. Our portfolio includes Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience (Shopping Agent, CX Agent Studio, Agent Assist, Vertex AI Search - Commerce, Customer Experience Insights), along with other vertical and domain packaged solutions.

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with select, strategic customers to design, co-develop, debug, and deploy AI agents and solutions.
• Act as a high-level problem solver, empowered to write bespoke code, develop custom tooling, and contribute directly to the core product codebase.
• Systematize learnings from customer engagements working with team members to create reusable tools, robust documentation, and accelerators.
• Serve as a critical feedback loop to core Product and Engineering teams, synthesizing field insights to influence strategy.
• Provide technical guidance on agent improvement, performance tuning, CI/CD pipelines, and production readiness.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with artificial intelligence, distributed systems, large language models, and high performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing/launching software products and 3 years of experience in software design/architecture.
• 5 years of experience with speech/audio, reinforcement learning, or ML infrastructure.
• Experience working with customer teams.

Compensation

Canada: $182,000 – $187,000 CAD + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits.
