Role: Senior Network Engineer – Shipboard
Location: Miami, FL (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer – Shipboard to design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across shipboard and shoreside environments. This position is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and highly available networking solutions that support business operations across the fleet while ensuring compliance with organizational and maritime technology standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in enterprise networking, Cisco technologies, Aruba wireless solutions, Fortinet security platforms, cloud networking, and large-scale infrastructure deployments. This role also requires international travel to support vessel upgrades, newbuilds, drydock projects, and fleet-wide network initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, and satellite communication networks for shipboard and shoreside operations.
- Analyze business and operational requirements to develop scalable, secure, and cost-effective network solutions.
- Plan and execute network infrastructure deployments for vessel upgrades, drydock projects, and new ship implementations.
- Configure, install, and optimize routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and cloud-connected network services.
- Lead network engineering projects from planning through deployment, including hardware staging, implementation, testing, and production rollout.
- Develop Bills of Materials (BoMs), technical documentation, implementation plans, and operational procedures for network projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, vendors, and cross-functional IT teams to ensure successful project execution and timely delivery.
- Monitor network performance using enterprise management tools and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance, firmware upgrades, software updates, and security patch management across network environments.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for complex network incidents affecting shipboard and shoreside operations.
- Manage change requests for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid network environments while maintaining operational stability.
- Support integration of new technologies and ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards and security best practices.
- Validate backup and disaster recovery procedures to maintain business continuity and high system availability.
- Maintain relationships with technology vendors and service providers while coordinating contractor activities during infrastructure projects.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, operational standards, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Level 2 engineers and other network support personnel.
- Travel internationally (approximately 30–35%) to support shipboard deployments, fleet upgrades, and operational initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5–7 years of hands-on experience administering and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
- Strong experience configuring and managing routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, VoIP, proxy servers, and cloud networking services.
- Expertise with enterprise routing and switching technologies, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, trunking, and MPLS.
- Experience deploying and supporting Cisco enterprise networking solutions.
- Strong understanding of hybrid cloud and on-premises network environments.
- Experience troubleshooting complex network performance, connectivity, and infrastructure issues.
- Excellent analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cisco ACI, Software Defined Access (SDA), Cisco DNA Center (DNAC), and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
- Hands-on expertise with Aruba wireless technologies, including Controllers, ClearPass, and AirWave.
- Experience administering Fortinet security solutions, including FortiGate Firewalls, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiAuthenticator.
- Experience supporting maritime, cruise, transportation, or other mission-critical network environments.
- Knowledge of satellite communications and shipboard networking technologies.
- Experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects, including fleet upgrades, drydock activities, and new vessel deployments.
- Familiarity with network automation, orchestration, and infrastructure monitoring platforms.
- Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative networking solutions.

- Cisco Certified DevNet Professional or Expert
- Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP) or Aruba Certified Edge Professional
