Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant

Duties

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using aseptic techniques to ensure specimen integrity
• Collect, label, and process specimens accurately following established laboratory procedures and protocols
• Assist with laboratory tests by preparing samples, operating basic lab equipment, and maintaining cleanliness standards
• Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and addressing concerns with professionalism
• Record patient information, vital signs, and test data into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems with precision
• Handle specimen collection and processing for diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and hospital inpatients
• Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control practices such as proper specimen handling and aseptic techniques

Qualifications

• Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or clinical laboratory work preferred
• Certification or training in phlebotomy, blood sampling, or related fields is highly desirable
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and laboratory safety protocols such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR
• Familiarity with hospital environments and EMR/EHR systems for data entry and documentation
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to transport supplies or specimens safely
• Strong customer service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care across age groups including pediatrics and geriatrics
• Demonstrated understanding of venipuncture techniques like venipuncture (blood draw), blood sampling, and specimen handling procedures
