Duties
- Ensure compliance with the Monthly Risk Prevention Program, in accordance with the established annual plan, and provide weekly progress reports.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections in production units and facilities, identifying, reporting, and following up on unsafe conditions and actions.
- Ensure compliance with current legislation, OSHA regulations, industrial hygiene standards, and internal company policies in Safety, Occupational Health, Quality, Food Safety, and Environmental matters.
- Advise on the proper selection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring compliance with the PPE Matrix and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA/IPER).
- Develop, update, and maintain the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (IPER) for new activities, positions, accidents, or occupational diseases.
- Investigate workplace accidents and occupational illnesses, report timely to management, implement corrective and preventive measures, and monitor follow-up actions.
- Record, analyze, and evaluate monthly occupational accident statistics, including projection of the Additional Risk Premium Rate.
- Implement, supervise, and verify compliance with industry protocols and standards, and participate in internal and external audits (SMETA, ISO 45001, among others).
- Design, update, and communicate the Emergency Response Plan for production sites, coordinating with external agencies (ambulance services, fire department, police, OSHA), organizing annual drills, training emergency brigades, and updating evacuation maps and safe zones.
- Prepare, schedule, and deliver safety and occupational health training to employees, joint safety committees, and operational staff, including emergency procedures and safe work practices.
- Prepare technical reports and inspection reports, documenting findings and ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
- Provide specialized technical advice and ongoing guidance to internal teams, promoting continuous improvement and a preventive safety culture.
- Collaborate with leaders and internal teams to implement safety improvements, facilitating effective communication between employees and management.
- Identify opportunities to reduce accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses, promoting new strategies for communication, training, and employee participation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulations, and procedures, as well as all standards related to Safety, Quality, Food Safety, Occupational Health, and Environment, in order to protect employee health.
Requirements
- Proven experience in occupational health and safety within a manufacturing environment or similar industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers' compensation law, EPA standards, and EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) practices.
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, OSHA 10/30-hour training, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis and report writing with clarity and precision.
- Excellent communication skills to deliver engaging training sessions and foster teamwork across departments.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed safety inspections and implement effective corrective actions.
- Commitment to ongoing training & development to stay current with evolving safety standards and best practices.
- Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving and proactive decision-making skills.
- On-site position based in Miami, with approximately 90% travel availability.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Fully Bilingual (Spanish and English)
- 2-5 years of proven experience
Educational Background
Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Agricultural Safety (PEC Auditor), OSHA 30 General Industry, Forklift Trainer/Evaluator, LOTO, HazCom, Emergency Response, First Aid/CPR.
