Job Overview
The Senior Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading all warehouse operations to ensure safety, productivity, inventory accuracy, service excellence, and cost efficiency. This role oversees receiving, storage, order fulfillment, shipping, staffing, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across the distribution center.
The ideal candidate combines strong operational leadership with analytical and people-management skills to drive high-performance warehouse operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, and returns.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and operational procedures.
- Develop and manage warehouse KPIs such as productivity, inventory accuracy, on-time shipping, labor efficiency, and order quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational discipline, process standardization, and waste reduction.
- Manage and develop warehouse supervisors, team leads, and hourly associates.
- Oversee workforce planning, scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and employee engagement.
- Collaborate with transportation, supply chain, procurement, customer service, and sales teams to support business objectives.
- Ensure inventory integrity through cycle counts, audits, and effective warehouse control processes.
- Optimize warehouse layout, storage utilization, slotting strategies, and material flow.
- Manage warehouse budgets, labor costs, overtime, and operational expenses.
- Support implementation and optimization of WMS, automation systems, and warehouse technologies.
- Lead problem-solving activities related to service failures, inventory discrepancies, and operational bottlenecks.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organization throughout the facility.
- Support peak season planning and execution to meet customer demand requirements.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 8+ years of warehouse or distribution center experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control practices.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive accountability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced knowledge of warehouse safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Experience with automation systems, conveyor systems, ASRS, or material handling equipment is a plus.
