Computer Aided Design Drafter

Position Overview

My client is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Drafter to join its engineering team in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for preparing, revising, and maintaining engineering drawings and supporting the development of 3D models for a variety of energy infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to produce accurate, high-quality design documentation.

This position offers the opportunity to work alongside engineers and designers on projects supporting the oil & gas and pipeline industries while contributing to the successful execution of engineering and construction deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, revise, and maintain engineering drawings using AutoCAD in accordance with established drafting standards.
• Develop detailed 2D drawings and assist with portions of 3D models to support engineering and design activities.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project teams to ensure drawings meet project requirements, technical specifications, and industry standards.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before final issuance.
• Coordinate drawing reviews and incorporate design revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain drawing files and assist with document management and document control processes.
• Upload and organize engineering documents within the company's document management system.
• Estimate drafting effort and support project schedules by delivering quality work within established deadlines.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD/CAD) or a related technical discipline.
• 2–5 years of professional drafting or CAD experience.
• Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) certification in AutoCAD preferred.
• ADDA certification or equivalent drafting certification is a plus.

Preferred Experience

• Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD.
• Experience developing mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with drafting standards, engineering documentation, and document control procedures.
• Previous experience supporting oil & gas, pipeline, industrial, or energy infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawing packages, including mechanical, electrical, and civil disciplines.
