Our client is a boutique organizational consulting firm based in Houston, TX, with roughly 30 employees. The firm partners with organizations navigating significant change — leadership transitions, culture transformation, rebranding, rapid growth, and strategic planning — for clients spanning oil & gas, energy, healthcare, nonprofit, higher education, and professional sports.

The firm is intentionally structured as half consultants and half creatives: organizational psychologists, strategists, researchers, and leadership consultants work alongside designers and creative professionals to produce every engagement through a high-design lens. This is a distinct model from traditional management consulting — deliverables are built to be experienced, not just presented.

Position Overview

The Consultant, Client Management role is a key part of the firm's ongoing commitment to excellence in client delivery. Working with a developing specialization in a subject-matter area or industry vertical, the Consultant leads client teams through the planning and execution of project deliverables — identifying current-state processes, recognizing opportunities for improvement, and facilitating change management.

This is fundamentally a relationship- and account-management role: the Consultant is the person ensuring internal teams deliver, research is pulled in appropriately, and client scope and expectations are actively managed.

This is not an entry-level or purely execution-focused seat. The right candidate should already understand client management, relationship management, time management, and project management, and will be expected to lead engagements early in their tenure — needing to learn how this firm operates, not how to manage a client relationship from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

Lead client teams in the planning and execution of project deliverables across research, organizational development, engagement strategy, talent management, and leadership development/coaching.
Own client relationship management day to day — serving as the primary point of contact, managing scope and expectations, and proactively surfacing risks before they become problems.
Coordinate internal engagement across teams — pulling in research, ensuring creative and design deliverables land on time, and keeping the client experience seamless and cohesive.
Design, develop, implement, and evaluate research, strategy, talent management, and performance management interventions.
Anticipate client needs and identify opportunistic upside within existing accounts (not a business-development role, but upsell awareness is valued).
Develop and deliver reports and presentations, including research deliverables and materials supporting new business efforts.
Coach and mentor junior team members (Analysts and Associates).

An entrepreneurial mindset — willing to wear multiple hats, jump into unfamiliar work, and build alongside a growing organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, industrial/organizational psychology, or organizational development.
4–6 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, marketing, communications, I/O psychology, human capital management, or organizational development, with a minimum of 2 years leading client engagements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; high learning agility and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining strong follow-through.
Mac proficiency (Keynote, Numbers, Pages) strongly preferred.
Houston-based, with some travel required.
