Position Overview

SDJA seeks a Middle School Math Teacher (Long-term Substitute) to cover a leave of absence. This is a temporary full-time position expected to run from approximately August through January. The successful candidate will bring an engaging, student-centered approach to teaching mathematics and a genuine love of working with middle school students.

The teacher will help students build confidence and fluency in math while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate knows how to make math approachable and meaningful, supporting a range of learners while encouraging students to take risks, ask questions, and develop a positive relationship with mathematics.

The successful candidate will teach the following five high school courses:

• Statistics
• Geometry
• Geometry Honors
• Algebra II
• Algebra II Honors

Qualifications

• A strong understanding of middle school mathematics instruction
• The ability to provide differentiated instruction to support diverse learners
• A passion for mathematics and teaching
• The ability to inspire students to develop strong mathematical reasoning and critical thinking skills
• A bachelor's degree and prior teaching experience is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Compensation & Benefits: Compensation for this temporary position is based on a daily rate equivalent to an annualized salary range of $54,269 - $89,971, prorated for the duration of the assignment. The final offer will depend on several factors including, but not limited to, years and type of experience, training, practical knowledge, and education.

In accordance with California law, employees in this role are eligible for paid sick leave. The position also includes participation in SDJA's kosher community lunch program.
