About the client

A medtech organization with offices in North County San Diego is seeking a Director of Finance to oversee and own all aspects of the Finance and Accounting function.

Position Overview

The Director of Finance leads the finance and accounting team to assure the timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting to all internal and external sources that require or depend on the department for such information. Working collaboratively with the President and Parent Company Directors, the Director of Finance defines and reports on short-term and long-term financial goals and objectives.

We are seeking a proactive leader with an entrepreneurial spirit who goes beyond traditional reporting to actively drive business growth and operational efficiency for the North American market.

The Director of Finance leads a staff responsible for updating and maintaining all financial records, software, and documents necessary to perform the tasks to safeguard the financial integrity of the organization and support the consolidated efforts conducted by the Parent Company.

As a key member of the executive management team, the Director of Finance interacts with senior stakeholders and other members of the company.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team.
• Brings an entrepreneurial mindset to the executive management team, providing strategic recommendations to the President to capitalize on market opportunities and drive growth.
• Champions robust Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), managing the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting.
• Advises on long-term business and financial planning.
• Provides commercial insight and leadership across the business in order to exceed business plan targets.

Operational Finance & Accounting

• Prepares executive financial reporting documents for the local office and Parent company.
• Provides oversight for the BCS reporting product used by the Parent company for consolidated reports.
• Provides oversight to treasury management and cash flow for the organization and Parent company as instructed.
• Leverages hands-on expertise with SAP to optimize financial workflows, improve data transparency, and streamline reporting processes.

Compliance, Risk & Administration

• Responsible for ensuring the risk and compliance management framework is embedded and operational for the Group and consistent with Parent company objectives.
• Reviews all formal finance-related procedures.
• Establishes and develops relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum BA in Accounting or other financial discipline; preference for CPA or MBA.
• More than 10 years of experience in financial reporting, GL maintenance, tax compliance, and risk management.
• Experience in an organization with sales in excess of $20M.
• Proven track record establishing and leading an FP&A function.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS with experience ensuring organizational compliance ånd alignment with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
• Strong operational proficiency in SAP or similar modern financial tech stacks.
• Advanced skills in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including leadership, business partners, and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of building, mentoring, and developing high-performance teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across diverse demographics, departments, and stakeholder groups.
• Previous experience in medical device manufacturing or in a related field preferred.
• Prior experience operating within a multinational or global organization, reporting to various stakeholders internal and external preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• This is a hybrid position requiring a combination of remote work and regular in-office attendance based on business needs and company policy.
• Work is primarily performed in a professional office and home office environment.
• Requires prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer, including frequent use of a keyboard, mouse, and multiple computer monitors.
• Must be able to communicate effectively via telephone, video conferencing, and in person.
• Requires the ability to review, analyze, and interpret financial data, reports, and electronic documents with attention to detail.
• May occasionally be required to move or transport office materials weighing up to 15 pounds.
• Requires the ability to remain stationary for extended periods while performing analytical and administrative tasks.
• Must be able to travel occasionally to the office, meetings, training sessions, or other company locations, as needed.

Compensation

Starting compensation range of $180,000.00 - $200,000.00 annually. Exact compensation will be determined by experience, education, licensure/certifications, and location, in accordance with applicable laws.
