What You’ll Do

As an entry-level engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineering graduate, you’ll support the design of mechanical systems—including plumbing, piping, HVAC, and fire protection—for building projects. You’ll work under the guidance of a Professional Engineer (PE) while you build your skills and confidence. Your responsibilities will grow as you gain experience, taking on work of increasing complexity and independence.

Over time, you may also have the opportunity to lead routine projects with a limited scope.

Mechanical Engineering & Project Support

• Contribute as a project team member on a variety of building and construction types, providing technical and professional support across multiple projects.
• Apply basic engineering principles and techniques while learning industry standards and best practices.
• Assist in developing, preparing, and reviewing engineering plans, designs, reports, or studies under the supervision of a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Support the review of shop drawings, RFIs, and vendor documents with guidance from more experienced engineers.

Support Project Delivery & Client Service

• Support multiple concurrent projects by helping maintain project schedules, tracking milestones, and preparing deliverables.
• Provide clear, practical technical information to project managers and senior engineers to support client needs.
• Attend project meetings and contribute to discussions with team members, architects, contractors, and other disciplines as appropriate.
• Participate in jobsite visits or on‑site assessments of existing buildings, which may occasionally involve overnight travel.

Coordinate Across Disciplines

• Collaborate closely with architects, owners, contractors, and internal engineering teams to help ensure aligned scope, coordinated designs, and shared expectations.
• Take part in coordination meetings and learn to represent mechanical engineering requirements clearly and accurately.
• Assist with construction administration tasks by communicating updates, reviewing field questions, and applying sound engineering judgment under supervision.

Learn, Grow & Contribute

• Perform technician‑level duties when appropriate to gain hands‑on experience and deepen understanding of building systems.
• Build a strong understanding of quality, risk, and accuracy—regularly self‑checking your work for completeness and alignment with codes and standards.
• Contribute to company operations and project delivery through other duties as assigned, gaining broad exposure to how projects and teams function.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree: in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required. Preferred candidates have taken the following courses: Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics.
• Experience: working as a mechanical EIT or intern is a plus.
• EIT or Engineering Intern (EI) certification: is preferred. Candidates without an EIT or EI and a commitment to obtain within six-12 months will be considered.
• Working knowledge: of Microsoft Office, Revit and AutoCAD. Knowledge of MicroStation and current mechanical engineering software (e.g., TRACE 3D Plus, IES VE) is a plus. Ability to maintain skill levels within the changing technology environment.
• Ability: to navigate and apply national, state and local codes along with American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (ASHRAE) standards to overall project and individual system designs.
• Organized: and able to work on several projects, a multitasker and comfortable working independently and effectively in a team environment to deliver projects.
• Positive and professional attitude: with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and clients in person or virtually.
• Commitment: to complete The Principals and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam within a dedicated time frame. Candidates will be expected to obtain their PE license for career progression.
• Eligibility: The applicant is a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident with a valid Green Card.
