Senior UX/UI Designer — a role at Provation

You will lead end-to-end, user-centered design for healthcare Saa. S applications, translating complex clinical and administrative workflows into intuitive, accessible experiences. This role drives experience strategy and partners closely with Product and Engineering to shape roadmaps.

You will influence cross-product consistency through design systems, facilitate research and validation, communicate design rationale to executive and technical audiences, and mentor other designers to elevate design quality and outcomes.

How you will approach the work

You plan and lead discovery activities — interviews, workflow observations, surveys — and usability testing, defining research goals, scripts, and success criteria.

Systems thinking and empathy-driven design are central: you optimize complex healthcare workflows across roles, channels, and devices and synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into experience principles, prioritized opportunities, and measurable design recommendations.

Prototyping and interaction design are part of your daily practice. You create concepts, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes (e.g., AI tools, Figma) to explore solutions, de-risk decisions, and accelerate delivery. Defining user journeys, information architecture, and interaction patterns helps support clinical and administrative tasks while reducing cognitive load.

You lead critiques and iterate designs using stakeholder feedback, accessibility reviews, and usability findings, documenting decisions and tradeoffs along the way.

You will also own and evolve the design system and component library, setting governance, contribution standards, and adoption plans. Ensuring consistency and scalability across products happens through reusable patterns, style guides, content guidelines, and interaction standards.

Close partnership with engineering is expected to align design libraries with coded components and to improve implementation quality through specs and QA.

Working cross-functionally, you influence product strategy and prioritization by connecting user needs, business outcomes, and technical constraints to clear experience recommendations.

You facilitate workshops such as journey mapping, design studios, and story mapping to align teams and drive decisions, and you present design rationale and outcomes to diverse audiences, building alignment through storytelling, artifacts, and clear documentation.

Accessibility and compliance are part of the role: you champion accessibility by designing and validating against WCAG standards (color, keyboard, screen reader, responsive behaviors). You set usability and accessibility quality bars and partner with QA/engineering to ensure implementation meets standards for diverse user populations.

You also incorporate healthcare compliance and privacy requirements (e.g., HIPAA) into interaction patterns, data display, and workflow design.

What we expect from you

Education and experience guidelines include a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 7+ years of relevant UX/UI design experience, including ownership of complex B2B and/or Saa. S products.

You should have expert proficiency in design/prototyping tools (e.g., Figma) and the production of developer-ready specifications, along with demonstrated ability to leverage AI powered tools as a multiplier of individual and team productivity and efficiency.

Deep knowledge of UX principles, information architecture, accessibility, responsive design, and design system practices is required. You should have demonstrated experience working in agile product teams and influencing roadmap decisions through research and data, plus excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, including presenting to senior leaders.

The ability to translate complex requirements into clear, scalable experiences and comfort navigating ambiguity and making principled tradeoffs are essential. Note that ~15% travel required.

Other knowledge, skills, abilities, or certifications we value include familiarity with healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA); strong experience building, governing, and operationalizing design systems and component libraries; working knowledge of HTML/CSS and modern front-end practices to partner effectively with engineering; and experience mentoring designers and elevating team design craft through critique, coaching, and best practices.

Certification in UX design or related field and experience with data visualization and dashboard design are also mentioned.
