Product Engineer (Full-Stack, Backend-Leaning)

The Role

We are hiring a Product Engineer to work directly with our founder/CTO as one of our earliest technical hires. This is a long-term, high-ownership role: you will own features end-to-end, from idea to production, and work directly with customers to solve real problems.

It is a full-stack role with a strong backend lean. You will spend most of your time in the backend, with application security and performance as your specialty, while still owning the full-stack delivery of what you build. This is not a backlog role, we want someone who spots gaps and fixes them without waiting for a ticket.

What You'll Do

Backend (your focus)

• Own backend services, APIs, and data modeling
• Own application security, reliability, and performance

Full-stack & product

• Deliver features end-to-end, including the UI they need
• Work directly with customers and the founder, and fix gaps proactively
• Ship with automated tests and AI-assisted tooling as the norm

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years building and shipping production software end-to-end
• Strong backend development and SQL, with solid application-security fundamentals
• Comfortable working across the full stack
• High ownership: self-directed, and you act when you see something that could be better

Our Current Stack

Strong fundamentals matter more than exact tool overlap, and our stack will evolve as we grow.

• TypeScript and Node.js, Express, and PostgreSQL
• React (with Vite, TanStack Query, and Tailwind)
• A managed serverless hosting platform (currently Vercel)

Bonus

• Interactive/complex frontend work: scheduling UIs, data grids, or stateful forms
• Startup or small-company environments
• Workflow, project management, land development, construction tech, or vertical SaaS
• AI-assisted development (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, or similar)
