Employment Law Associate, 4+ Years – (Portland, OR or Seattle, WA)

Schwabe currently has an opening for a full-time lawyer to help support the firm’s employment law practice. The preferred location for this opening is in Portland, Oregon, but individuals interested in Seattle, Washington will be considered. The ideal candidate will have:

• 4+ years of employment law experience and understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations
• Superior research, analytical and legal writing skills, as demonstrated in an employment law-related writing sample
• Litigation experience, at least as a second chair, with duties such as motion drafting, discovery, depositions, and oral argument
• Ability to handle with limited supervision BOLI and EEOC charges, investigations, and employee handbook and policy reviews
• Strong work ethic and client service acumen, excellent academic credentials and professional references, as well as solid interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness and ability to train junior associates
• Interest in one or more of Schwabe’s industry groups
• Oregon or Washington State Bar admission or eligibility for reciprocity is required; being licensed in both states is preferred
• Experience with or interest in labor law is a plus

The base pay range for this position is $165,000-$200,000, depending on job skills and legal practice experience relevant to the position. The position is also eligible for productivity and discretionary merit bonus consideration at the end of each calendar year. In order to cultivate our collaborative culture and better serve our firm clients, most lawyer positions at Schwabe require in-person work in our offices on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with flexibility on Mondays and Fridays to work offsite.
