Bartender/FOH Support

Bangkok Belly is looking for a bartender/FOH support staff to join the small, tight-knit team of our Thai restaurant in the heart of SE Portland.

We are a 25-seat scratch kitchen serving grilled skewers, Thai salads, and homemade curry, with a small-but-mighty craft bar program focused on ingredient-forward cocktails. We are seeking someone with bartending experience that can hold down a low- to medium-volume service bar on their own, while also having the flexibility and skills to jump into support other FOH roles, as needed.

Looking for someone that is ready to be a part of an all-hands mentality. Experience in Thai food is a plus but not necessary.

This position reports directly to the owners. Hours are evenings Wednesday-Sunday, with two to three 5-6 hour shifts per week to start. This position will start as a part-time role with approximately 12-20 hours a week. Seeking availability starting in August.

Responsibilities

• Help deliver guest dining experience by executing delicious drinks and maintaining a positive, welcoming attitude
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of workspace and equipment to ensure our drink quality, food safety and flavors
• Assist in bar prep and closing duties
• Support FOH duties such as welcoming guests, bussing tables, washing and polishing glassware, and additional tasks as assigned to help other team members.
• Be a team player!
• Support ongoing bar menu development and execution
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time Routinely lift loads and supplies necessary to conduct restaurant operations

Qualifications

• Previous bartending experience of at least 2 years
• Able to work in a medium-volume bar with attention to detail
• Strong communication skills
• Kind and hard-working team player who is open to collaboration and feedback
• Competitive compensation at $18-19 depending on experience + weekly shared tip pool.
