We are currently seeking a skilled Road Base Foreman to join our team. The Road Base Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily field activities related to road base preparation, grading, compaction, and related infrastructure construction. This role ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and mentor a crew involved in road base, grading, and subgrade operations.
• Coordinate daily work activities, ensuring crew productivity and adherence to project schedule.
• Communicate clearly with superintendents, project managers, and survey/layout teams.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, tolerances, and quality requirements.
• Monitor equipment usage and coordinate machinery needs with onsite equipment managers.
• Assist with layout, grade checking, and troubleshooting issues in the field.
• Conduct visual inspections and coordinate compaction testing with third-party or internal testing teams.
• Identify risks and implement corrective measures to prevent incidents.
• Liaise with subcontractors, truckers, and suppliers as required.
• Work closely with engineers and surveyors to resolve grade discrepancies.
• Report progress, delays, and resource needs to the Superintendent.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience in road base, grading, or heavy civil construction.
• 2+ years of supervisory or foreman-level experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of subgrade preparation, aggregate base installation, compaction methods, and civil drawings.
• Experience with GPS-enabled equipment, laser levels, and grade control systems is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and staking/layout reports.
• Physical fitness and stamina to perform and demands of the job.
• Willing to work in varying weather conditions and at different job sites as needed.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
