Scrum Master

Position Summary
We are seeking a Certified Scrum Master to lead Agile software development teams and drive successful project delivery. This role will serve as a servant leader, coach, and facilitator, helping teams adopt and mature Agile/Scrum practices while collaborating closely with Product Owners, Release Train Engineers, stakeholders, and business units.
The ideal candidate will have experience guiding Agile teams, facilitating Scrum ceremonies, removing impediments, and fostering continuous improvement within a SAFe environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience guiding teams to effectively write, split, and map stories.
- Understanding of basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures.
- Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by IT.
- Ability to develop, plan, manage, or execute projects or work plans to ensure successful completion.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Test-Driven Development.
- Experience with CI/CD processes related to Scrum.
- Experience with relative estimation, retrospectives, and Agile release planning techniques.
- Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and possess strong innovation and facilitation skills.
- Proven oral, written, and business presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to interface effectively with Release Train Engineer(s) and all levels across organizational lines, including business units.
- Ability to effectively utilize external vendors and resources throughout the organization.
Experience
- 5-7 years of Scrum experience with at least 2 years as a Scrum Master required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
- Certified Scrum Master or SAFe Scrum Master (Required)
- SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (Desired)
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (Desired)
- PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (Desired)
- Certified SAFe Agilist (Desired)
Key Responsibilities
Agile / Scrum Practices
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, and sprint demos.
- Work with the Release Train Engineer to integrate efforts across teams.
- Consult with the Product Owner to validate and communicate team priorities.
- Guide, coach, and motivate the team with the goal of increasing productivity.
- Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to drive end value.
- Serve as the team’s Scrum expert and help improve the way the team works.
- Remove impediments to help the team reach an optimum, sustainable velocity.
- Lead the team in self-organizing to fill the intentional gaps left within Agile/Scrum frameworks.
- Foster accountability, transparency, and regularity in status updates.
- Remove impediments external to the team and ensure the Rally system remains current and accurately reflects team status.
- Assess Scrum maturity across the team and organization and coach teams toward higher levels of maturity at a sustainable pace.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate and ensure alignment of priorities with program stakeholders and team members.
- Build and support a trusting and safe environment where challenges are addressed proactively with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
- Assist with internal and external communications, improving transparency and ensuring teams receive the right information at the right time.
- Remove impediments or guide the team in removing impediments by identifying the appropriate resources to resolve issues.
- Facilitate the completion of work without coercion, assignment, or dictating how work should be performed.
Metrics & Reporting
- Manage, publish, and communicate information radiators and relevant team metrics related to progress against objectives.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policies, procedures, training requirements, and team member involvement activities.
- Maintain facility cleanliness and organization at all times.
- Store product according to established company standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
