ESE Teacher / Life Skills Instructor
Conductive Education Center of Orlando (CECO)
CECO is seeking a passionate and dedicated Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Teacher or Life Skills Instructor to join our specialized center serving individuals with motor and cognitive disabilities. Our unique approach integrates Conductive Education, fostering independence and holistic development.
This is a 40-hour/week position with a competitive salary. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading cognitive, life skills, and job skills activities in the Young Adult Program (ages 18-22).
At least two years of in-classroom experience working in a group setting with children or adults with motor disabilities and/or special needs.
A bachelor’s degree or certification in a related field is required.
Knowledge and experience in differentiated instructional methods for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities, including materials/equipment used in group settings.
Understanding of child development, education, behavior management, positive discipline, and redirection techniques.
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong time management skills.
Positive verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively.
Knowledge of adult learning styles.
Strong oral and written English skills and computer proficiency.
Creativity and innovative thinking.
Commitment to a strong work ethic.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and actively participate in physical activities as needed.
Plan and prepare classroom activities in collaboration with the other instructional staff members
Work cooperatively within a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement group activities and curriculum.
Integrate technology to enhance learning and practice of life skills and job skills.
Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans that support physical, cognitive, and social-emotional growth.
Create and submit written programs that reflect cognitive and life skills activities.
Complete progress reports in collaboration with other instructional staff members discuss student progress with families and demonstrate how to apply life skills techniques at home.
Train and supervise assistants in classroom preparation and participant facilitation.
Lead parent/teacher conferences as needed.
