Position Overview

As an HVAC Start-Up Technician, you will be responsible for commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and starting newly installed HVAC systems on multifamily new construction projects. You will verify that equipment is installed correctly, operating efficiently, and performing to manufacturer specifications before turnover to the customer.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform start-up, commissioning, and functional testing of newly installed HVAC systems.
• Inspect equipment installation to verify compliance with manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
• Troubleshoot installation issues and coordinate with field teams to resolve deficiencies before system turnover.
• Start up heat pumps, split systems, RTUs, condensers, exhaust fans, and other HVAC equipment.
• Complete start-up reports, commissioning documentation, and required project paperwork.
• Communicate with project managers, field supervisors, and customers regarding project status.
• Follow all company safety policies and maintain a safe work environment.
• Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal codes.

What You Bring to the Team

• Experience:
• 3-5 years of HVAC service experience in multifamily-residential environments.
• Experience performing HVAC start-ups, commissioning, or multifamily new construction preferred.

Education & Certificates

• High school diploma or GED required.
• EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred; Type I & II minimum required).
• OSHA training or willingness to complete company-provided training.
• HVAC technical school or trade certification preferred.
• NATE or other HVAC certifications are a plus.
• Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Skills

• Strong HVAC troubleshooting and commissioning knowledge.
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment submittals.
• Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Able to climb ladders, reach overhead, squat, crawl and work on feet full shift.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity).
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel locally as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Starting at $25.00 per hour, with higher pay based on experience and qualifications.
