Hotel Engineer (Facilities Maintenance)

The Hotel Engineer / Hotel Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the property remains in excellent working condition to deliver a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all guests. This role oversees all routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance tasks for the hotel’s guestrooms, public areas, building systems, and equipment.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, reliable, and knowledgeable in general building maintenance—specifically in the hospitality environment. This position requires strong skills in electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall repair & texture, HVAC basics, and overall property upkeep.

You will work closely with hotel management to respond to guest maintenance requests, perform scheduled preventative maintenance, and ensure the property meets all brand and safety standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Maintenance

• Perform daily repair and maintenance tasks in guestrooms, hallways, lobby, exterior areas, and back-of-house spaces.
• Complete guest maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
• Maintain and repair hotel equipment including appliances, lighting, locks, pool equipment, and mechanical systems.

Electrical

• Troubleshoot and repair outlets, switches, breakers, light fixtures, wiring issues, and electrical components.
• Replace lighting throughout the hotel, including LED retrofits as needed.

Plumbing

• Address leaks, clogs, running toilets, faucets, drains, and basic pipe repairs.
• Replace and maintain water-saving fixtures, shower cartridges, P-traps, and supply lines.

Painting, Drywall Patch & Texture

• Perform drywall repair—holes, dents, water damage, cracks—and apply smooth or textured finishes.
• Complete interior and exterior painting work with professional-quality results.

Preventative Maintenance

• Conduct routine inspections and PM on guestrooms, HVAC units, PTACs, plumbing systems, smoke detectors, and safety equipment.
• Complete Wyndham brand PM checklists and log all work performed.
• Keep equipment rooms clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all maintenance work meets local building codes and brand safety requirements.
• Assist with emergency procedures, such as power outages, leaks, and fire system issues.
• Maintain proper documentation of repairs and PM tasks.

Job RequirementsExperience & Skills

• Minimum 1 years experience in hotel maintenance or a similar building maintenance role.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Electrical troubleshooting
• Plumbing repairs
• Painting and drywall patch/texture
• Basic HVAC (PTAC diagnostics, filter replacements, drain cleaning)
• Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, and hotel equipment safely.
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs (hotel PM experience preferred).
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
• Strong communication skills with guests and team members.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, kneel, and work in tight spaces.
• Ability to respond quickly to maintenance emergencies anywhere on property.

• Must pass a standard background check.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed.
