Applied Engineering
Applied Engineering is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to support electro-mechanical assembly and system integration work across our manufacturing floor. This role is ideal for a recent graduate who wants hands-on exposure to box builds, wire harness assemblies, and full system integration — bridging the gap between customer engineering documentation and production execution.
You'll work closely with manufacturing engineers, technicians, and quality staff to ensure products are built correctly, on spec, and on schedule.
Documentation & Change Management
● Review customer-supplied drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for completeness, accuracy, and manufacturability
● Identify discrepancies between drawings, BOMs, and as-built assemblies; initiate and document Engineering Change Order (ECO) requests
● Maintain accurate documentation and revision control for engineering changes
● Create and update work instructions, assembly procedures, and process travelers for production use
● Redline drawings and route change requests through the approval process
Assembly & Integration Support
● Support electro-mechanical assembly and box build operations, including wire harnessing, panel wiring, and system-level integration
● Support test and troubleshooting of assembled electro-mechanical systems (continuity, functional checks, basic diagnostics)
● Assist in first-article inspections and build validation for new or revised assemblies
● Provide real-time engineering support to the production floor, answering technician questions and resolving build issues as they arise
● Participate in daily production/tier meetings to flag engineering-related roadblocks
Quality & Continuous Improvement
● Support root cause analysis for non-conformances tied to design or documentation issues
● Complete Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions for non-conforming parts or assemblies
● Recommend and implement process improvements to reduce build time, rework, or scrap
● Support corrective action (CAPA) investigations involving engineering or design elements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
● Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to resolve build issues, part shortages, or drawing conflicts
● Coordinate with buyers/planners on part substitutions, obsolescence issues, or lead-time-driven design changes
● Participate in design reviews and provide manufacturability feedback to customers or program engineers
● Interface with customers on technical questions, drawing clarifications, or deviation requests when directed by program management
New Product Introduction (NPI)
● Support the transition of new designs from prototype to production, identifying manufacturability concerns early
● Assist in developing test procedures and acceptance criteria for new assemblies
● Help build and validate engineering BOMs prior to production release
● Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
● Basic understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOM structures
● Comfortable working on a manufacturing floor alongside technicians and assemblers
● Strong attention to detail and documentation habits
● Good communication skills — able to translate between engineering documentation and shop-floor execution
● Internship, co-op, or academic project experience with electro-mechanical assemblies or box builds
● Familiarity with PLM/ECO systems or engineering change processes
● Exposure to IPC-A-620 (wire harness) or IPC-A-610 (electronic assembly) standards
● Basic proficiency with CAD or schematic capture tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Altium, or similar)
● Experience with hand tools, crimping, soldering, or basic test equipment (multimeters, hipot testers)
● On-site role in a manufacturing environment; some time on the production floor is required daily
● Occasional lifting of components/assemblies up to 25 lbs
● Standard business hours with occasional flexibility to support production schedules
Pay: $72,000.00 - $88,000.00 per year
