DevOps Infrastructure Engineer

Position Overview

Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product, Sohu, supports transformers with an order of magnitude more throughput and lower latency than conventional solutions.

As a DevOps Infrastructure Engineer, you will design and innovate cutting-edge tooling and software for model-specific ASICs, enabling real‐time video generation and advanced chain-of-thought reasoning. You will drive the adoption and reliability of our toolchains, manage a highly technical infrastructure, and work closely with IT partners to ensure robust server environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive adoption of cutting-edge tooling to improve speed and reliability of our toolchains.
• Design and write software for new model-specific ASICs, ensuring timely market entry.
• Specify and build fully redundant SSD-only server infrastructure while maintaining high uptime.
• Run massively parallel CI jobs and design policies to minimize downtime in case of machine failures.
• Collaborate with IT contracting firms on day-to-day maintenance and installation, while taking ownership of innovative toolchain design.
• Representative projects include spec’ing a 6 GHz desktop CPU server, evaluating cloud/colo transitions, and setting up networking for Jupyter notebook connectivity.

Required Qualifications

• Highly technical with strong knowledge of Linux, containerization, CI/CD, and programming languages such as Python/C++ (coding questions will be part of the interview).
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior members.
• 4+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or software development.
• Experience debugging complex hardware and software issues within server infrastructures.

Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth understanding of semiconductor industry workflows, including tools like Synopsys, Cadence EDA, and Verilator.
• Proficiency with cloud computing technologies and experience with one of the Big 3 Cloud providers.
• Experience monitoring and installing datacenter hardware.

Compensation Range

$150,000 - $275,000
