JOB SUMMARY

The Relationship Manager (“RM”) is responsible for originating quality assets while supporting the Company’s goals for portfolio and deposit growth. The RM builds and manages a portfolio of clients, fostering strong relationships to ensure retention and expansion.

This role also assists in monitoring delinquencies, collections, appraisals, environmental assessments, credit reviews, and loan grading functions to ensure the Bank maintains sound credit practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Client Relationship Management

• Provide the Lexicon Bank client experience in all interactions.
• Develop new banking client relationships and manage an assigned portfolio of clients.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and account retention through quality service.
• Handle client requests and complaints promptly, professionally, and courteously, escalating as necessary.

Credit & Loan Management

• Adhere to risk management standards to maintain loan quality control and minimize losses, including activities related to origination and servicing.
• Ensure credit is presented on a sound and constructive basis that provides an adequate return for the Company.
• Consult with Executive Management regarding risks on complex or unusual loan relationships.
• Utilize contact programs with local builders and loan brokers across market areas to ensure continuing demand for loan funds.
• May assist the Chief Credit Officer (CCO) in negotiating loan participation and purchase agreements, inspecting collateral properties, reviewing loan documents, effecting settlements, and maintaining loan files.
• Regularly review cash flow projections with the CCO to determine cash needs for loan demand, excess cash for investment, and borrowing requirements.
• Present and review loan requests, as defined by board policy, with directors for their consideration, approval, or rejection.

Compliance & Risk Oversight

• Remain attentive to new and pending laws and regulations that may impact the Company’s credit practices.
• Provide input into revisions of policies, procedures, and agreements to ensure regulatory compliance; correct and report deviations from policy.
• Identify compliance risks and take actions to eliminate or mitigate them.
• Maintain solid knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), OFAC Regulations, Fair Lending, and all other applicable banking and government regulations.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a lending position.
• Extensive background in financial institution loan production, underwriting, loan structuring, loan documentation, and loan review.
• Knowledge of policies and procedures related to the lending function, including resolving problem loans.
• Understanding of AML laws and regulations, including the BSA and consumer and commercial loan compliance requirements.
• Financial and analytical skills.
• Superior written and oral communication and presentation skills, including the ability to create and champion a vision and articulate it to various groups.
• The ability to be proactive and creative in identifying issues, solutions, and opportunities for efficiencies.
• The ability to anticipate and react quickly to the evolving financial institution regulatory environment.
• A demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, to motivate employees, and build teams and relationships.
• Knowledge of business operations, systems, and practices related to banking, securities, insurance, and/or money services.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is performed primarily indoors in an environmentally controlled setting. The position may involve occasional exposure to sounds and noise levels that can be distracting. Work is conducted in close physical proximity to others, requiring frequent collaboration and communication.

Essential functions may require extended periods of sitting at a computer, as well as occasional standing, walking, or travel to meetings, client visits, or events. The role also requires regular use of computers, including prolonged screen time for research, data analysis, and reporting.
