Job Summary

As the Construction Manager I, II, III, you will ultimately be responsible for leading construction crews, managing project execution, and ensuring safe, high-quality delivery of underground and aerial construction projects. You will coordinate field operations, schedules, staffing, materials, and customer communication while delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.

As the Construction Manager I, II, III, your customers are internal construction teams, project managers, customers, and business partners, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through operational leadership, project execution, and safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)

• Lead and manage construction crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company policies and customer requirements.
• Coordinate project planning, scheduling, material procurement, crew assignments, customer communication, production reporting, and project closeout documentation.
• Coach, train, and evaluate Foremen and field employees while supporting hiring, employee development, performance management, and corrective actions.
• Monitor project budgets, production, milestones, quality standards, and regulatory compliance while resolving field issues and supporting continuous operational improvement.
• Maintain accurate project documentation including production reports, timekeeping, as-built documentation, closeout packages, and invoice approvals.
• Promote a strong culture of safety while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Experience

• Experience leading construction crews within underground and/or aerial utility construction.
• Experience managing construction schedules, materials, budgets, production reporting, and customer coordination.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and team management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid certifications.
• Experience with telecommunications infrastructure construction, HCSS HeavyBid, scheduling software, and project budgeting.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and perform physical activities for extended periods.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and around active construction equipment.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, safety boots, and other required safety gear.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

• Supports smaller projects and assists with day-to-day field operations.

Level II – Proficient / Independent Performer

• Independently manages construction projects and field operations.
• Demonstrates sound judgment, leadership, and effective problem-solving.
• May mentor junior Construction Managers and Foremen.

Level III – Advanced / Senior Performer

• Leads large, complex, or multiple construction projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrates advanced operational leadership, customer relationship management, and financial oversight.
• Provides coaching, mentorship, and operational guidance across multiple teams while driving continuous improvement.
