Job Summary

The CMBS Asset Management Analyst supports the active management of a portfolio of Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (“CMBS”) subordinate bond investments. The role focuses on loan‑ and property‑level credit analysis, identifying emerging credit risks, and value preservation across performing and non-performing assets.

The Analyst works closely with senior investment professionals to support controlling‑class decisions, loan workouts, approvals, and broader portfolio strategy.

Essential Functions

• Monitor and analyze the performance of CMBS loans across a diversified portfolio, including review of borrower financial statements, operating statements, rent rolls, inspections, and special servicer asset summary reports
• Evaluate loan performance relative to underwriting assumptions, identify emerging credit concerns, and monitor loan covenants
• Support senior professionals in the analysis of loan modifications, extensions, waivers, reserve requests, assumptions, and other borrower requests
• Assist with the evaluation of specially serviced and distressed assets, including review of business plans, valuations, and workout strategies
• Prepare clear, concise internal credit memoranda, portfolio reporting, and ad hoc analyses
• Coordinate with internal teams and external counterparties, including master and special servicers, borrowers, brokers, legal counsel, and third‑party consultants
• Support ongoing process improvement initiatives within asset management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Real Estate, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• 1+ years of relevant experience in CMBS, commercial real estate asset management, credit analysis, or a related role
• Experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or similar) to improve workflow efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance analytical output
• Strong interest in commercial real estate fundamentals, cash flow analysis, and portfolio management.
• Development and/or real estate cash flow modeling experience
• Strong quantitative and technical/computer skills with proficiency in Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The expected annual base salary range for this role is $87,500 - $130,000. Actual base salary will be determined by several components, including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills and qualifications, base salary of internal peers, and geographic location.

In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and a variety of financial, wellbeing, and health / welfare benefits.
