Location: Kansas City, MO (Headquarters) - Hybrid or Local Remote possible.

The Numbers: 75K – 110K Base Comp (flexible based on commercial credit experience, underwriting depth, portfolio complexity, and lending exposure)

This opportunity sits within a well-capitalized community bank with approximately 400MM in assets and a long-standing commitment to commercial lending, community development, and relationship banking.

While many institutions talk about impact as a marketing initiative, this bank has built a meaningful portion of its lending strategy around affordable housing, community development, and CRA-focused lending throughout the region.

The Mission

Support the underwriting and risk evaluation of commercial lending relationships while developing expertise in one of banking's more specialized lending arenas. This is a credit-first role focused on helping assess complex transactions, with exposure to affordable housing, community development, LIHTC, CRA, and CDFI-related lending opportunities.

The goal is simple: build a stronger credit professional while helping support transactions that create meaningful impact in the communities they serve.

The Daily Grind (The Good Kind)

• Credit Analysis: Evaluate commercial lending opportunities through detailed financial analysis, cash flow assessment, and credit underwriting.
• Risk Assessment: Prepare credit presentations, spread financial statements, and identify both strengths and potential risks within a transaction.
• Portfolio Support: Partner closely with lenders, Portfolio Managers, and leadership to support both new opportunities and existing client relationships.
• Specialized Lending Exposure: Analyze commercial lending opportunities tied to affordable housing, community development, LIHTC, CRA, and CDFI initiatives while building expertise in a specialized lending segment that most analysts rarely encounter.
• Decision Support: Deliver clear, thoughtful analysis that helps balance growth objectives with sound credit discipline.

Your Toolkit

• The Battle Scars: Commercial Credit Analyst, Credit Analyst II/III, Portfolio Manager, Commercial Underwriter, Credit Officer, or similar commercial banking experience.
• Technical Mastery: Strong financial statement analysis, cash flow underwriting, and commercial credit fundamentals.
• Detail Threshold: Comfortable working through complex commercial transactions where structure and documentation matter.
• Communication Edge: Able to translate financial analysis into clear recommendations for lenders, credit teams, and leadership.
