Asbestos/Toxic Tort Lawyer or Paralegal

Trustpoint has partnered with a large national law firm in its search for multiple legal professionals for a full-time project. Start dates are immediate upon completion of background and conflict checks.

These positions offer a primarily remote work schedule, but candidates must reside in the Kansas City, MO, St. Louis, MO, Houston, TX, Miami FL, Orange County, CA, Los Angeles, CA or San Francisco, CA metropolitan areas, because occasional in-office presence is required.

In this role, you will be embedded with one or more of the firm's litigation legal teams to support docketing, calendaring, and case management functions across a high-volume litigation portfolio.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Monitoring, reviewing, and interpreting incoming case filings — including pleadings, deposition and hearing notices, and trial-setting orders — applying litigation judgment in coordination with the supervising attorney to determine deadlines and required calendar entries.

Directing the calendaring team to update the firm's database, which flows into case trackers and other firm systems, and providing supporting information needed for accurate entry.

Performing quality control on calendared work, drawing on substantive asbestos/toxic tort knowledge to confirm that entries accurately reflect submitted filings and that rescheduled or canceled events are updated rather than duplicated.

Reviewing and circulating daily docketing reports (generated from the BEC docketing program) to ensure attorneys are informed of new entries and calendar changes.

Triaging and escalating time-sensitive or high-priority filings — such as motions for trial preference and PMK/representative deposition notices — to the appropriate legal team members.

Qualifications

• A Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent paralegal experience.
• One to two years of experience in asbestos litigation is highly preferred; experience with a high-volume litigation portfolio or toxic tort litigation may be substituted.
• This role is judgment-intensive and requires exceptional attention to detail.
• Duration: Minimum three to six months, with the possibility of extension on this or other litigation matters.
• Hourly Pay Rate: Starting at $25/hour, commensurate with experience.
• Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.#J-18808-Ljbffr
