Senior Manager Network Engineering

Position Overview

Oracle Cloud’s IES Data Center Network Engineering team drives innovation in enterprise-grade network services across global data centers. As the Senior Manager of Network Engineering, you will lead the Network Implementation Engineering group, overseeing the delivery, support, and optimization of critical network infrastructure.

You will foster a culture of technical excellence and operational discipline while partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, compliant, and scalable network solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Network Implementation Engineering group, managing engineers across US and global data centers.
• Define and execute team goals using Agile methodologies, in collaboration with the Network Strategy group.
• Drive high-visibility implementations, migrations, and refresh projects across global data centers.
• Champion engineering best practices including automation (Python, Ansible, Git) and comprehensive lifecycle management.
• Serve as the escalation point for critical incidents, ensuring 24/7 network availability and reliability.
• Oversee vendor management and drive measurement/reporting of KPIs, SLAs, and OLAs.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass a federal background check (SF-86).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 7+ years of enterprise-scale network engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience managing high-performing technical teams.
• Deep understanding of network protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPSEC) and Layer 2/3 architecture.
• Experience with Cisco, Arista, and related network platforms.
• Hands-on expertise with automation frameworks such as Python, Ansible, and Git.
• Proven experience in lifecycle management and structured upgrades of network hardware and software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior leadership of a global team in a 24/7 network engineering environment.
• Knowledge of OCI, Azure, or AWS virtual networking components.
• Experience leading migrations or technical refreshes in highly regulated environments.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure.
• Experience integrating and operationalizing network analytics tools (e.g., Grafana, Elastic, SNMP traps, syslogs).
• Exposure to F5 BIG-IP, Citrix ADC, or equivalent load balancing and application delivery platforms.
