Role Description The Medical Laboratory Technologist is a full-time, on-site role based at Excelsior Springs Hospital in Excelsior Springs, MO. This role is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, and other specimens, following established protocols and regulatory standards.

Day-to-day tasks include preparing and processing samples, operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, verifying test results, and documenting findings accurately in the laboratory information system. The technologist collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions.

Additional responsibilities include participating in quality control and proficiency testing, maintaining a safe laboratory environment, and assisting with training or mentoring of new team members as needed.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Medical Technology and Laboratory Medicine skills, with the ability to perform and interpret a variety of clinical laboratory tests.
• Candidates should possess core Laboratory Skills, including specimen collection and handling, instrument operation, and accurate data entry and documentation.
• Candidates should possess experience in Quality Control, including running controls, troubleshooting discrepancies, and adhering to regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Candidates should possess foundational knowledge of Medicine relevant to clinical laboratory practice, supporting effective communication with clinical teams.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field; ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.
• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting is beneficial, particularly in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and transfusion services.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
• Willingness to work assigned shifts, including possible evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs require.
