Enlisted Physical Medicine Aiding Recovery Through Movement When an Airman is injured or wounded, we do everything we can to help them get back on their feet. Working hand in hand with Physical Therapists, Physical Medicine specialists help patients recover from muscle and bone problems. These experts implement exercise programs and treatments that fulfill a vital role in helping injured Airmen make a full recovery.

Requirements

• You must meet several requirements before joining the Air Force.
• These concern your background, overall health and other standards set by the Air Force, Department of Defense and federal law.
• You must be 1742 years of age, a U.S. citizen and obtain a qualifying ASVAB score.
• Completion of high school or college courses in human anatomy and physiology, biology, and physical sciences are mandatory.
• Completion of oral communication (Speech, 3 semester hours), written communication (English Comp, 3 semester hours) and mathematics (intermediate algebra or college-level math) is mandatory for entry into 4J0X2. *High School Students may start their application as early as the end of their junior year.
• Applicants who are non-graduates or non-alternate credential holders must obtain an AFQT Test score of 65 or higher on the ASVAB 60 General (G) Knowledge of sciences including physical, physiological, anatomical, social, and behavioral; basic and clinical sciences, including laboratory or other practical experience; testing and treatment procedures constituting scope of physical medicine and orthotic scope of practice; therapeutic modalities; orthotic laboratory equipment; medical terminology; communication skills and instruction methods; basic medical logistics procedures; administrative procedures; and medical ethics.
• Completion of 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training Must be at least 17, but has not reached age 42 on the date of enlistment The Physical Therapist Assistant Direct Accessions program allows those who qualify to bypass technical training following Basic Military Training.
• To qualify for the direct accessions program, you must meet the following requirements: Hold an active PTA license Graduated from a CAPTE accredited institution with a 2-year Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in Physical Therapy 1-2 years of experience recommended Your Future Is Waiting.
