Long-Term Substitute Teacher – Junior High Mathematics

St. Bernadette School – Westlake, Ohio

St. Bernadette School, a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School and a 2026 Northeast Ohio Top Workplace, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Teacher for our 7th and 8th grade mathematics program.

This position is responsible for teaching courses that include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry. The ideal candidate will have a strong mathematics background, experience working with junior high students, and the ability to provide engaging, rigorous instruction to students at varying levels of mathematical readiness.

Responsibilities

Teach Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry courses to 7th and 8th grade students.

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction.

Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.

Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.

Communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff.

Collaborate with colleagues to support student growth and continuity of instruction.

Support the Catholic identity, mission, and values of St. Bernadette School.

Qualifications

Valid Ohio teaching license or certification that includes high school mathematics is required.

Strong knowledge of Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry content.

Effective classroom management and instructional skills.

Ability to differentiate instruction for students at varying levels.

Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

Commitment to supporting the academic and personal growth of junior high students.
