Senior Developer (Backend)

Location: Remote, United Kingdom, Bristol

We are looking for a Senior Developer to join our team at Steer73. You’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality solutions across a variety of client and internal projects. Working closely with product managers, QA, and other developers, you’ll contribute technical expertise to build robust, scalable, and secure applications.

As a senior member of the development team, you’ll focus on hands‑on coding, solution design, and ensuring best practices are followed throughout the development lifecycle. You’ll help shape technical decisions, mentor junior developers, and stay up to date with modern technologies to continuously improve our processes and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement user stories and features according to agreed specifications.
• Collaborate with product managers and technical leads to refine scope and clarify requirements.
• Contribute to solution design and architecture discussions.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following best practices.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests.
• Review code and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Set up and maintain development and production environments.
• Address performance‑related issues and optimize applications.
• Develop efficient data models and secure solutions.
• Respond to customer incidents and resolve service‑affecting issues.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with C#, .NET Core, and .NET Framework
• ASP.NET MVC Core / WebAPI
• Databases (Azure SQL DB, EF Core, CosmosDB)
• Azure resources (App Service, Functions, Storage, SQL DB, Service Bus, CosmosDB, Application Insights, KeyVault, Redis Cache)
• Cloud architecture (Azure)
• Azure DevOps (build pipelines and project management)
• Networking, DNS, SSL
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
