Trainee Estimator - Structural Steel

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to learn, develop new skills, and build a long-term career within a well-established structural steel company. Full training will be provided, with support from experienced estimators and industry professionals.

About the Role

As a Trainee Estimator, you'll learn how to prepare accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects, working closely with our estimating, design, and project teams. You'll gain hands-on experience interpreting drawings, reviewing project specifications, and assisting in the preparation of competitive quotations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of estimates and quotations for structural steel projects.
• Reviewing architectural and engineering drawings.
• Performing quantity take-offs and material calculations.
• Liaising with suppliers to obtain material and subcontractor pricing.
• Supporting the estimating team with tender submissions.
• Maintaining accurate project and pricing records.
• Learning industry standards, fabrication processes, and construction methods.

About You

We're looking for someone who is/has

• Eager to learn and develop a career in estimating.
• Numerate with good attention to detail.
• Organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
• A confident communicator with good IT skills.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at C/4 or above.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Previous experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or reading technical drawings is beneficial but not essential.
