Essential Turbines Inc. (ETI) is a leading Engine MRO providing services across the globe. ETI operates out of facilities in Montreal, Vancouver, Malta and Phoenix, AZ. Position Summary
Essential Turbines is seeking a Supply Chain Professional/Master Planner for our aircraft turbine engine MRO operation. The Master Planner develops and maintains the master schedule for engine inductions, module and piece-part repair, and return-to-service across our North American shops.
This role sits at the center of our Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process — translating customer induction forecasts, AOG events, contract turnaround time (TAT) commitments, and long-lead aerospace material availability into an executable shop plan.
The Master Planner balances customer TAT, work-in-process, rotable pool health, and finite capacity across disassembly, cleaning and inspection (NDT), repair cells, assembly, and engine test, and serves as the day-to-day source of truth for which engines move through the shop, when, and with what resources.
This position will have multi-site responsibility and oversight for Master Planning activities for North America, including Montreal QC, Vancouver, BC and Phoenix, AZ.
Key Responsibilities
Master Scheduling & MRP
- Build and maintain the 12–18 month engine MRO master schedule — engine inductions, module flow, piece-part repair, and return-to-service — aligned to customer TAT commitments and contract milestones.
- Sequence engine inductions across the shop to level-load disassembly, repair cells, assembly, and engine test, and to protect rotable pool and exchange-unit availability.
- Run the weekly MRP cycle; review exception messages, reschedule actions, and pegging on consumables, repair kits, and rotables to keep the plan valid and executable.
- Maintain planning parameters (routings, lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, repair vs. replace rules) in the ERP/MRO system to reflect actual shop and supplier performance.
- Release and prioritize shop work orders and repair orders in line with capacity, material availability, certification status, and customer commitments.
- Build out current ERP system to provide Master Planning requirements though system rationalization and data integrity
S&OP and Capacity Planning
- Primary owner of the S&OP cycle; plan, lead, develop data and workstream to build out S&OP; reconcile the customer induction forecast and AOG demand against shop capacity and material availability.
- Build and maintain rough-cut capacity plans (RCCP) across critical engine MRO work centers — disassembly, cleaning, NDT, blade and vane repair, machining/welding repair, balance, assembly, and engine test cell.
- Manage engine test cell loading as a primary constraint; coordinate test slot assignment with assembly completion and customer ship dates.
- Surface capacity gaps and bottlenecks early; recommend overtime, shift changes, outsourced repair vendors, tooling, or capital actions to close them.
- Partner with Finance and Program Management to translate the operating plan into TAT, WIP, inventory, revenue, and cost projections each cycle.
Cross-Functional Execution
- Work hand-in-hand with Operations, Customer Service, Finance, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to resolve material shortages, repair scope changes (work scope creep), and quality / airworthiness holds without breaking TAT commitments.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Repair Administration on long-lead engine materials and outside repair vendors — LLPs (life-limited parts), blades and vanes, combustors, bearings, accessories, and OEM repairs — and ensure planning horizons reflect realistic vendor TATs.
- Manage rotable / exchange unit availability in the plan; coordinate loaner / exchange engine moves to protect customer dispatch reliability.
- Re-plan and prioritize the shop in response to AOG events, customer escalations, workscope expansions, and unserviceable findings during inspection.
- Support customer-facing program reviews with shop status, TAT forecasts, and root-cause for missed milestones.
Data & Continuous Improvement
- Champion data integrity in the ERP/MRO system; routinely audit standard repair routings, vendor TATs, lead times, and planning parameters.
- Track and report core MRO planning KPIs: TAT performance vs. contract, schedule attainment, on-time induction and delivery, WIP aging, past-due, and forecast accuracy.
- Identify and drive process improvements within the planning function, applying APICS / ASCM best practices and lean MRO principles (visual management, pull, constraint management).
- Own and drives operational metrics, reporting, and data sources to drive data driven decision making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related technical field.
- 5–8 years of production planning / master scheduling experience, with direct experience in aircraft turbine engine MRO (or a closely comparable aerospace MRO environment).
- Working knowledge of FAA Part 145 / EASA Part 145, Transport Canada Part 145 repair station operations and AS9110 quality requirements.
- Familiarity with engine MRO workflow — disassembly, cleaning, NDT, repair, assembly, balance, and test cell operations — and with rotable / exchange-unit management.
- Hands-on expertise running MRP and master scheduling in a tier-one ERP / MRO system (SAP, Oracle, IFS, Trax, Quantum, Ramco, or equivalent).
- Expert knowledge of S&OP, including supply review and rough-cut capacity planning.
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel; comfort with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and large data sets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting plan status to operations leadership, program managers, and customer representatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- APICS / ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD).
- Direct experience planning a specific engine family RR M250/RR300
- Experience managing LLP tracking and back-to-birth traceability requirements.
- Familiarity with finite scheduling / advanced planning tools (e.g., Kinaxis, OMP, SAP IBP, Preactor).
- Lean / Six Sigma training (Green Belt or higher) and direct experience with MRO continuous improvement (TAT reduction, WIP reduction, takt-based flow).
- Working knowledge of ITAR / export-controlled program requirements.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This is an on-site role based at our engine MRO facility; daily presence on the shop floor is expected.
- Combination of office and engine shop floor environment; appropriate PPE required when on the shop floor and around the test cell.
- Occasional travel (~20-30%) to repair vendors, OEMs, ETI shops, or customer facilities.
- Must meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods program and US Restricted and controlled items under ITAR and Department of Commerce.
