Technical Content Lead

The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), a not-for-profit member association serving the Canadian extractive industries, is looking for a Technical Content Lead to cultivate relevant and high-quality content for the institute’s varied channels including multiple live events each year that range in attendance from 250 to 7000.

The Technical Content Lead is the liaison between the content production, events membership teams, as well as CIM constituents (branches, societies, industry partners) and the members of the broader industry. The person in this role ensures the material in our media and fora is relevant to CIM’s membership and their professional development needs.

Responsibilities

• Work with internal departments to ensure CIM content and technical programming is of high-quality and relevant to CIM membership across: CIM Events; Professional development programming; CIM Publications; Member services
• Refine the strategy and structure for the capture and sharing of technical content through: Attendance and reporting on CIM and other industry events; Launch to post-event review of CIM-organized events; collaboration with internal content teams
• Build relationships and consult with CIM Society and Branch executives, corporate members, and industry partners to gather content and speaker ideas and ensure alignment
• Analyze data across CIM platforms and events to uncover trends, participation rates and audience profiles
• Collaborate with internal teams to craft compelling and technically accurate content marketing strategies and connect with specialized audiences
• Work closely with the technical programming teams for to capture material that is informed by or led by operations

Qualifications

• A degree or diploma in a related field such as Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Knowledge Management, Mining/Metallurgical Engineering, or other relevant disciplines
• 3+ years of experience in content strategy, stakeholder engagement, program development, or industry communications
• Experience working in or with the natural resources sector—particularly mining, metallurgy, or energy—is a strong asset
• Experience with content strategy and creation
• Familiarity with professional associations, technical societies, or member-driven organizations is a plus

Work Environment

This role is based at our head office in Montreal, with hybrid flexibility. Fully remote options may be considered for the right candidate based in Canada.
