Legal assistant with minimum 2yrs experience required for criminal & family law

Duties

• Assist lawyer (s) with case management, including organizing and maintaining case files using iManage document management system
• Prepare, proofread, and review legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, and correspondence with meticulous attention to detail
• Conduct legal research using LexisNexis and other resources to support case development and strategy
• Manage data entry tasks accurately to ensure all case information is current and accessible
• Schedule appointments, interviews, and court dates while coordinating communication between clients, courts, and other parties
• Perform clerical duties including filing, photocopying, scanning, and maintaining organized physical and digital records
• Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when communicating with clients, witnesses, courts, and vendors

Skills

• Proven experience in criminal and family law supporting roles with at least two years of relevant work experience
• Strong proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all legal documents and correspondence
• Proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis for case law and statutory research
• Effective project management skills to handle multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines
• Excellent interviewing skills for client intake and witness interviews
• Familiarity with iManage document management system and general administrative software
• Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
• Exceptional writing skills for drafting legal documents, summaries, and reports
• Attention to detail in data entry, filing systems, and clerical tasks to maintain high standards of accuracy
• Knowledge of court procedures, filing requirements, and legal protocols
• Strong phone etiquette combined with professional communication skills
