Caregiver / Home Support Worker (Part-Time)

Job Summary

HomelyHands Support Services is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and professional caregiver to provide one-on-one in-home support for a senior client in Northwest Calgary.

The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, speaks clear English, and enjoys helping seniors maintain their independence and quality of life.

Schedule

Start Time: 12:00 PM

• Monday: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
• Tuesday: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
• Wednesday: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
• Thursday: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
• Friday: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
• Saturday: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
• Sunday: No scheduled shift

Responsibilities

• Assist with morning routine and getting out of bed if required
• Verify that morning medications have been taken
• Supervise proper use of prescribed inhalers
• Prepare the client's first meal and assist with meal preparation for later in the day
• Encourage adequate nutrition and hydration
• Support prescribed exercises and short daily walks using a walker
• Accompany the client outdoors when appropriate
• Assist with showering (approximately twice per week)
• Complete laundry and light housekeeping as needed
• Remove garbage and recycling when required
• Provide companionship and emotional support
• Assist with appointment reminders
• Accompany the client to medical appointments during scheduled work hours when required

Qualifications

• Previous caregiving, Home Support Worker, Health Care Aide (HCA), or Personal Support Worker (PSW) experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills with clear spoken English
• Compassionate, patient, and encouraging personality
• Ability to support seniors with mobility and daily living activities
• Reliable, punctual, and professional

Requirements

• Valid Class 5 driver's licence
• Reliable vehicle
• Willingness to transport the client to appointments when required
• Mileage or additional transportation compensation will be provided for approved client transportation
• Criminal Record Check (required before employment)
• CPR/First Aid certification is an asset

• Someone who speaks clear English
• A kind, confident, and encouraging caregiver

The client has indicated that either a Caucasian caregiver or a Filipino caregiver who speaks clear English would be suitable. We welcome applications from qualified candidates who can meet the client's communication and care needs.
