Civil Engineer

Overview

In response to increasing project demands and development of our business, we are seeking a Civil Engineer to join AtkinsRéalis to support our team in Alberta. This position will be based out of our office in Calgary.

Your role

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

• Geometric design for a variety of road and highway infrastructure projects.
• Prepare preliminary and detailed design packages for multidisciplinary projects including plans, profiles, typical cross-sections, grading and drainage, property acquisitions, geometrics and laning, spot elevations, signing and pavement markings, detours and construction staging.
• Prepare 3D digital models of the proposed design.
• Develop cost estimates based on quantity take-offs and unit prices.
• Reviewing work and completing quality control procedures.
• Lead/Support proposals and fee estimates.
• Providing mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians to ensure the technical adequacy of all work.
• Contributing to or preparing project documentation including design briefs, design criteria, engineering reports, drawings and specifications to summarize the approach taken and project relevant results, as well as presenting materials to clients.

About you

• Holds an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with APEGA.
• 7+ years of progressive civil engineering experience in road and highway design.
• Experience with CAD/Civil 3D is required.
• Experience with the preparation of design reports and technical notes.
• Working knowledge of application of TAC Geometric Design Guidelines and AASHTO design standards.
• Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments within Canada.
