Convertus is looking for a Director of Strategic Markets!

Full-time, Hybrid

Your Mission

As the Director of Strategic Markets, you will lead the commercialization of Convertus’ most technically advanced and strategically important products, transforming innovative engineering capabilities into long-term contracted revenue streams.

Working closely with the CFO, CEO, and executive leadership team, you will develop new markets, secure strategic partnerships, negotiate complex commercial agreements, and create innovative go-to-market strategies for emerging products where established commercial pathways may not yet exist.

You will play a critical role in shaping Convertus’ long-term growth strategy, influencing capital allocation decisions, and helping build the policies, partnerships, and commercial structures that support the next generation of the circular economy.

As the business grows, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a high-performing Advanced Products team and evolve into a broader commercial leadership role within the organization.

Here’s what an ordinary day of work might look like:

• Meeting with senior leadership to align on strategic growth priorities and communicate progress across key initiatives.
• Leading procurement and negotiation of municipal and commercial intake contracts to secure long-term feedstock.
• Overseeing the development pipeline for new facilities, collaborating with maintenance and operations teams on DBO projects.
• Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to expand the company’s market presence.
• Leading the end-to-end M&A process, including financial modeling, due diligence, negotiation, and integration.
• Conducting financial modeling and market analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Supporting the commercial team in securing off-take agreements for products and end outputs.
• Leading internal meetings with the Growth team to review performance metrics and pipeline updates.
• Providing coaching and mentorship to team members, ensuring alignment with company values and goals.
• Traveling to project sites, partner meetings, or industry events to build relationships and advance strategic initiatives.

This job is for you if you

• Have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, or a related discipline); an MBA or demonstrated commercial leadership experience is considered an asset.
• Bring 10+ years of experience commercializing technically complex industrial products, technologies, or solutions.
• Have a proven track record of translating technical and engineering concepts into successful commercial opportunities and long-term revenue streams.
• Demonstrate success negotiating and managing large-scale commercial, strategic partnership, or offtake agreements.
• Possess strong financial and commercial acumen, including experience with pricing strategies, contract structuring, valuation, and risk management.
• Are equally comfortable leading technical discussions with engineers and executive-level negotiations with customers, partners, and stakeholders.
• Thrive in environments where ambiguity exists and enjoy building new markets, commercial pathways, and growth opportunities from the ground up.
• Have experience leading cross-functional initiatives across engineering, operations, finance, and commercial teams.
• Excel at building trusted relationships with customers, industry partners, regulators, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
• Bring an entrepreneurial mindset, strategic thinking capabilities, and the resilience required to navigate long commercial development cycles.
• Have experience within renewable energy, environmental services, biogas, environmental commodities, waste management, or related industries (considered a strong asset).
• Are passionate about building teams, developing talent, and creating scalable commercial processes that support long-term organizational growth.
• Hold a valid Driver's License and are willing to travel as required.

• Annual Salary – range of $146,800 - $220,200 CAD

About the salary range: A reasonable estimate of the pay range is $146,800 - $220,200 CAD at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.

The upper end of the range is typically reserved for candidates with demonstrated expertise that is above job requirements or who bring exceptional directly transferable experience. Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
