Finance Specialist

Our client, a national leader and highly respected consulting firm, is seeking a proactive Finance Specialist to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in the firm’s day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.

This includes accounts payable, credit card processing, employee expenses, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate thrives in a small-team environment where they can take “end-to-end” ownership of accounting tasks while supporting the broader team. Main responsibilities include:

• Manage the full AP cycle, including invoice verification, coding, and payment runs
• Support accounts receivable, including client invoices and collections
• Review and process employee expense claims and manage cash transfers, including EFTs and wire payments.
• Assist with cash flow monitoring, daily liquidity, and bank reconciliations
• Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close, and reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Maintain the fixed asset register and record depreciation; assist with HST filings
• Process payroll and support year-end reporting and compliance filings
• Assist with year-end working papers for audit, and other periodic reporting requirements
• Provide administrative and team support to meet departmental deadlines and operational needs

Qualifications

The main qualifications for this role include

• Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting is required
• Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Good understanding of accounting principles and procedures
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
