Senior Commercial Project Manager

Our team is growing and we’re seeking a motivated, outcome-oriented Senior Commercial Project Manager to guide our projects from start to finish.

The successful candidate would be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, while prioritizing safety and maintaining high-quality workmanship.

Thunderbolt Contracting is a family-owned landscape contractor located in the Nation’s Capital since 1992. We have a dedicated team of over 150 employees and a modern fleet of equipment to take care of each project from start to finish. Plan the project

• Collaboration with senior management
• Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
• Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc) required to complete the project
• Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
• Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
• Call in for locate requests
• Provide submittals, shop drawings to architect, and order products for project

Implement the project

• Execute the project according to the project plan
• Develop forms and records to document project activities
• Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured
• Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
• Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project
• Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards

Control the project

• Meet or exceed weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual targets.
• Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures.
• Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to senior management on a regular basis (monthly/bimonthly)
• Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures
• Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date
• Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for funders as outlined in funding agreements
• Through some initial oversight, assist with the mentorship and development of the operations staff.
• Prepare and submit Progress Payment Certificates (PPC's), along with billings to finance department within Company

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in commercial landscape/civil construction
• 5+ years of project planning/coordination including budgeting
• A deep understanding of permits and specifications (TRCA, OPSS, OPSD)
• Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project
• Experience in completing estimates and bid submissions
• Experience with CAD Essential Requirements
• Clear and concise communication skills
• Valid driver's licence in good standing as well as a clean abstract

Schedule

• 10–12-hour workday
• Monday to Friday
