Estimator: Technical sales

FMSI located in Edmonton, AB. Over 40 years in our business sector, a leader in technical sales of commercial-scale heating and humidification equipment in our manufacturer-designated sales territory of northern Alberta. Looking for a motivated and skilled individual to be a technical sales estimator. As a small company, our staff prides itself in customer care and support.

Once the selected candidate has developed a strong knowledge of the product offerings and services at FMSI they will be in a position to assess customer needs and requests to recommend the best products and services. The successful candidate will nurture our long-established client relationships, create new relationships, provide current pricing and grow as a technical sales representative.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer telephone and email related to quotation requests for heating and humidification equipment (tendered jobs or individual requests)
• Ability to take off specific and required information from job tenders to prepare quotations for customers.
• Maintain knowledge of competitor involvement in jobs
• Learn and continue to learn about manufacturer products (any changes, updates, discontinued products etc.)
• Ensuring quotations are reserved for mechanical contractors and designated customers in our manufacturer-designated sales territories
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems is beneficial
• Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction with quoted materials
• Respond to customer inquiries using relevant product information and guide customers to select the best product we can provide for the proposed application
• Build relationships with customers to enhance communication and ensure our equipment is considered and selected in future projects
• Make use of electronic catalogues created by our manufacturers to select best options for customer’s application needs
• Look through job specifications, drawings, and schedules to determine the scope of work in the project
• Attending jobsite walk-through when necessary
• Offer relevant and current product information provided by the manufacturers we represent
• Prepare estimates for mechanical contractors and bidders for replacement parts or complete units
• Assist senior technical sales members in projects

Sought after candidates will have completed any of the following desired programs: HVAC Refrigeration Technician; Electrician; Gasfitter; Industrial Mechanic; Instrumentation and Control Technician; Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic; Sheet Metal Worker Journeyman; Steamfitter/Pipefitter; Welder; Advanced Plumbing Technology; Electrical Installations Technology; Construction Engineering Technology; Engineering Design Technology; Mechanical Engineering Technology; (similar programs to those listed).
